Navigating Burnout amid Uncertainty

I recently delivered a closing conference keynote on leadership, burnout, and resilience in times of chronic uncertainty. Drawing from my work as a clinician, educator, and researcher, I explored how trauma stewardship and sustainable leadership practices can help individuals remain grounded amid ongoing stress and change.

Blending storytelling with reflection, my keynote invited participants to examine burnout, reconnect with purpose, and develop more sustainable approaches to leadership and well-being.

University of Maryland’s School of Public Health recently profiled my innovative program, BE WELL, which teaches undergraduate students practical, evidence-based mental-health skills through experiential learning. This past December, I joined WTOP to discuss why New Year’s resolutions often backfire—and how to set goals without shame. I encouraged listeners to move away from comparison and self-criticism, especially on social media, and to focus on values-driven, realistic goals. When motivation drops, I suggested shifting from achievement to care, emphasizing curiosity and self-compassion as the key to sustainable change.
